“Rachel listens deeply to what I tell her verbally and to what my body says. Working with her has released chronic muscle tension which allows me to move more freely and even let go of longstanding emotional blockages. Rachel is my partner in my ongoing quest for balance and health.”
— K.S.

I studied dance through my childhood and continued as a dance major at Hunter College. At Hunter I began my formal study of anatomy and kinesiology. When I got injured dancing, I took private Pilates lessons to rehab my ankle. The trust that I developed with my instructor was key in healing. The care she provided for my individual needs an entire hour at a time made me feel safe enough to move through the injury and the fear that came with it. I was intrigued. I knew that my passion for movement and curiosity about anatomy could work in service of others.

Eager to learn more and inspired to help others heal, I enrolled in Ellie Herman’s Pilates teacher training program. While apprenticing as an instructor under Lana Halvorsen at Bodycraft Pilates, I received my teaching certification from the Kane School in NYC. I attended FAMI (Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries), a cadaver lab experience for movement practitioners held at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After working as a teacher trainer at the Kane School, I opened a private practice. I received an AOS and license in massage therapy from Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences and was selected to join the National Honor Society. I continue to pursue my studies through continuing education, my own embodied experience, and collaborative work with clients and colleagues.
